Running boards unique features

As with most truck lovers, I have been doing my own maintenance and installation on my truck and had an opportunity to take care of other trucks as well. From my experience, there are several accessories that a truck can have but some of the essentials include the popular tonneau covers, fenders and bed extenders which give provide some of the most useful features you can add to your truck. Another useful accessory that is often overlooked but definitely worth the price are running boards or sometimes known as a nerf bar.

Running boards for trucks provide an extra step when getting into the truck making it loads easier to get inside and eliminating height issues so kids and elderly will have no problems getting on. They’re mostly made with non-slippery materials to prevent slipping and can usually handle about 500 lbs. weight or more, depending on the model. One peculiar thing I noticed though is that when a friend of mine bought her running boards, they came with a tool box so I did a bit of research and found out that there are new running boards that are being introduced into the market that have additional features.

One of them is the tool box I mentioned earlier: it basically uses the top surface as a running board and when you need to load some tools or gears to your truck, you can simply lift it and you’ll be seeing a very spacious tool box which can fit clothes and even ski boards. It also comes with a lock so you don’t have to worry about security.

Another one I found out is that there are running boards that automatically retract when you open the doors and hide in plain sight when you close them. It’s an absolutely gorgeous innovation in running boards and will give your truck that “high tech” feeling when others see it. The installation takes a bit more effort than the usual set since you will have to do some wiring but looks perfectly on any truck. If you don’t like seeing running boards on your Ram but feel the need for them, grab some retractable Dodge running boards.

Last thing I found really convenient are the option to mount external lights on your running boards. It can be set to turn on when you need it most like when you’re making your way into your truck during the night. It can also be set to work as an additional turn signal so the right light blinks whenever you signal right and left when you signal left. It works perfectly with most manufacturers even with Ionic running boards.
